So you want to use the SkillBridge program to hire veterans? That’s a great choice.
We’re here to help you both use the SkillBridge program, and most importantly, get you enrolled in it.
Now, the SkillBridge program can be a little complicated. It’s a great tool in the toolbox of hiring veterans, but it can also be a very specialized one. For the service members who want to use SkillBridge, they have to be within the final 180 days of their service, meaning the end of an enlistment, the end of a service obligation, or perhaps they are approaching their retirement date after 20 or more years of service.
For you, the employer, the application process goes a little bit like this: Now, the Department of Defense only opens that application window a couple of times a year for about a 60-day period each time. To apply to be into the SkillBridge program, you have to submit a partnership application. Part of that application will include the job roles that your candidates would be fulfilling, a detailed training plan, and an expectation that at the end of the SkillBridge period, that they will be hired into your company. There are a lot of other little details that go into that training plan, but those are the basics.
Once you submit the training plan and the partnership application, the Department of War will take approximately 30 to 60 days to review and then grant you the Memorandum of Understanding to work with you on SkillBridge. You have to have been in business for at least 3 years, and there should be a 75% chance that your candidates will be hired with your company at the end of the SkillBridge period.
Now, again, those are just probably the glossing over the details of the whole program, but the most important thing for you to know after watching this video is that we here at Vetted Employers can and will help you get that application process going, walk you through the approval process, and most importantly of all, we have already have a proven track record of helping companies get enrolled in the program and hire candidates once they’ve completed the SkillBridge program itself.
Once again, this is Bruce Townshend for Vetted Employers and we hope to talk with you again very, very soon.
